Oughtyo is an audio player designed with a single purpose: you’ve got local audio files, and you want a nice, simple app with useful features to play them in.

There are a lot of audio players available on the App Store, but after trying many (many, many, many) of them, I came away with the following takeways:

• Very few of them make it painlessly simple to add a locally saved audio file and play it back

  • The ones that do cost more than an audio player is worth…and worse, some of them even have subscription pricing

• The typical user experiences are cumbersome, convoluted, and confusing

  • They’re littered with settings and ads and distractions

• Most of them don’t look like modern iOS apps

So I set out to make my own app, which would fix those problems. It needed to be so easy to use that anyone could figure out what to do. It needed to have a robust feature set, but also a feature set that gets out of your way and just does its job - leaving you with a great listening experience for your content.

Oughtyo is currently in closed beta via TestFlight. An open beta period will follow as development continues and gets closer to a full App Store release.
